Particle Shield: Lex Luthor and his teammates have a 30% INCREASE to their MAXIMUM HEALTH. |
Lex Luthor Krypto is a well-balanced Gold card. While none too powerful, he is a solid support character.
Strategy
Basic Attacks
Basic combo | Damage pattern (% of damage stat) | Total (including Combo Ender) |
---|---|---|
Light (Combo Ender) | 2% - 2% - 2% - (3%) | 9% |
Heavy | 4% - 4% - 4% | 12% |
The third hit of his heavy combo has an unusually long delay. While it looks like Lex jabbing his opponent with his lance, it works more like a melee-range projectile in that even if Lex is interrupted before the third hit, the third hit may still hit the opponent. If the opponent uses a very short special, it may even hit them after the special. If he uses a special right after his heavy combo, the third hit becomes part of the special and can apply an extra gear DOT from The Ibistick, LexCorp Helmet V2, and League of Assassins Adept Blade.
Passive
Like all versions of Lex Luthor, his special 1 is an easy and effective power drain. His passive offers a significant maximum health boost to the entire team that is only possibly equaled or exceeded by that offered by Solomon Grundy/Red Son's passive, though Solomon Grundy's passive can only respectively do so with one or two other Red Son teammates. As such, Lex Luthor Krypto can add a lot of health and endurance to an arguably much wider array of teams, which combined with the aforementioned power drain may well leave him the preferred card of the two and the ultimate benefactor for any team that would prefer a lengthier fight. Lex Luthor's special 1 does an extra hit at the beginning, prior to the minigame (and thus unaffected by its performance). This hit is not included in the normal stated damage of his special. It does 2% of his damage stat prior to any modifications (including special upgrade, which does increase its damage).
Gear
As a support card, any gear is good on him. If player want to utilize his SP1, The Master's Death Cart and a DOT gear such as The Ibistick are powerful options, allowing him to inflict massive DOT damage with SP1 on tag-in, along with power drain as his SP1 is ranged so it can be chained from The Master's Death Cart's tag-in shots.
Defensive gears also work greatly on him. Fourth World Set or LexCorp Set is very powerful on Lex Luthor, providing Regenerate on SP1 along with other useful effects such as Resurrect and power drain reverse. Those 2 setups make him a very durable tank, being able to withstand a lot of damage while slowly drain opponents' power and regen on SP1.
His heavy combo can juggle very well, so it's recommended to equip him with basic attacks gears if player want to juggle with his heavy combo.
Interactions
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Lex Luthor. Having a card that "counters" Lex Luthor does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With
- Characters with low heath such as Bane Luchador, and Ares/Prime.
- Harley Quinn/Animated, Wonder Woman/Red Son, and Green Lantern/Regime: All three provide significant boosts to power generation, allowing Lex to use his SP1 quicker and more frequently. (Harley also provides a significant damage boost). In return, Lex provides a huge boost in health.
- Raven/Prime and Shazam/New 52: He can give Raven and Shazam a huge boost in health, making it much harder to avoid their passives. This is especially useful in Online Battles, where the health boost doesn't count towards the stats listed on the cards, making the opponents much more likely to face very tanky teams with hidden health.
- Metal characters: As stated above, his passive doesn't count towards the health listed on the cards, and thus, opponents are more likely to face teams with "the same" stats, when there is actually a hidden 30% health boost for Lex's entire team. Not to mention, metal characters also have a certain multiplier in stats based on their promotions when you face them in Online Battles, and thus, can make the opponents face very tanky and unforgiving defense teams.
Good Against
- Characters whose passives are dependent on their special attacks or super moves including but not limited to the following: Raven/Teen Titans, Deathstroke/Arkham Origins, Scorpion/Mortal Kombat X, Ares/Prime, Shazam/Prime, and Aquaman/Regime
Countered By
- Static/Prime, and Lobo/Prime: Both have power drain immunity.
- Batman/Arkham Knight: Batman can choose to have power drain immunity.
- The LexCorp Set: By having at least two pieces, the 2/3 effect actually gives power to the wearer, making Lex's SP1 a danger to himself.
- Characters and gears that deal damage based on health percentage such as:
- Batgirl/Cassandra Cain, and Claw of Horus: Their tag-in attacks deal damage based on health percentage.
- Raven/Prime: Her health swap is based on health percentage.
- DOT gears like The Ibistick and LexCorp Helmet V2.

Trivia
It should be noted that the third hit of his basic heavy attack is a projectile. This can be seen when the third hit of his basic heavy attack is interrupted midway, as the attack will still hit an opponent.
